Hand sewn car cover composed of discarded curtains and other domestic fabrics, stereo audio piece (4 min 34 sec), shampoo, newspapers.
Velour Peristalsis explores the sensory experience of the architecture of a car. The exterior cover is influenced by vernacular protective car covers and in this case serves to heighten the sensory realm inside. The audience can enter the blacked out interior to be immersed in an experience of space, scent and pre-recorded text and sound. The audio narrative draws links between car interiors and our own bodily interiors to the sloshing rhythm of a carwash.
