Flooring
Flooring was a site-specific work for an idle, post-Celtic Tiger building. The piece explored the relationship between bodies and space by creating an interventionist costume for moving in the building. Interaction was set up for the audience with the expansive open plan floor of aluminum tiles that are slowly gathering dust. The work installed 40 pairs of yellow dust cloths designed to fasten into over-booties capable of adapting to all size of shoe. By wearing the smooth cloths participants could skate, slide, polish and caress the skin of the building underfoot, both engaging in a haptic experience of architecture and performing care for the building through their inadvertent dust gathering actions.
